States
United Kingdom
Permanent UN Security Council member; major naval presence in the Gulf; close US ally with independent regional history.
Role in conflict
The UK maintains a Royal Navy presence in the Gulf, basing at HMS Jufair (Bahrain) and joint operations with US Fifth Fleet. London has historically led on regional dossiers (Iran nuclear, Yemen) inside the E3 (UK-France-Germany) and within NATO. UK policy combines tight US alignment on Iran with independent diplomatic activity on humanitarian and post-conflict files.
Objectives
- Maritime freedom of navigation in the Gulf
- JCPOA-successor architecture or equivalent constraint on Iranian enrichment
- Sanctions enforcement and counter-evasion
- Avoid being drawn into a Gulf war by US miscalculation

Article-5-style automatic escalation via NATO is unlikely; bilateral retaliation more probable.
