Iran's Revolutionary Guards stated that three oil tankers caught fire on Sunday in the Strait of Hormuz. The statement noted that Iran regularly targets ships transiting without its authorization. The command stated that US forces have been enforcing a naval blockade on Iran in and around the Strait of Hormuz for months.
The last confirmed US strike on a cargo vessel occurred nearly a month ago in the Gulf of Oman.
