First lady Melania Trump hosted Russian and Ukrainian representatives at the White House on Thursday, stating she hopes the six-day ceasefire in Oleshky will inspire greater peace. Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, Ukrainian lawmaker David Arakhamia, Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova, and Russian Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev joined her in front of reporters.

The Security Council received an update on the Yemen sanctions committee’s activities, which included reviewing reports on dual-use items, precursor chemicals, information-sharing, and vessel flag State capacity. The committee also considered recommendations submitted by its Panel of Experts.

Melania Trump convened Russian and Ukrainian officials at the White House to urge both sides to prioritize humanity over war. This meeting occurred ahead of trilateral peace negotiations scheduled for Abu Dhabi.
