Tehran measure to stabilise goods prices set for nationwide rollout, mayor says

Summary

Tehran measure to stabilise goods prices set for nationwide rollout, mayor says Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani has said that a municipal initiative to stabilise goods prices and offset the impact of US sanctions will be extended nationwide. Zakani wrote on X that despite Trump and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s "economic war on Iranians", Tehran Municipality launched the “Zero-Inflation Initiative” to freeze essential goods prices for six months. "This economic shield is set to expand nationwide to counter US pressure," he said. On Thursday, Zakani wrote on X: "Our heartfelt belief is that we are in an all-out war and must do everything in our power to reduce the economic pressure on the people. "Zero inflation" is a shield against economic warfare so that people can have greater peace of mind in meeting their essential needs." The US launched Operation Economic Outcast in late August, seeking to totally isolate Iran from international trade.
