According to a report by the Taipei Times, Chinese authorities deployed a record number of government vessels, including coast guard and research ships, around Taiwan in August, with an average of nearly eight vessels per day exceeding previous monthly totals.

The report notes that these figures do not include People's Liberation Army Navy warships, which operate in the area on a daily basis.
