Oil producers in the Persian Gulf region are advancing multiple pipeline projects to route oil exports away from the Strait of Hormuz toward terminals on the Red Sea, Suez Canal, and Gulf of Oman. Prior to the conflict in Iran, roughly 15 million barrels per day transited the strait; at least seven major projects are now reported under construction, in planning, or under discussion by officials, companies, and analysts.

Some proposed routes are longer and costlier, and alternative passages have also encountered reported disruptions, including from Houthi actions in the Red Sea.
