The Belarusian Belta state news agency and a senior Ukrainian official reported that four planes carrying residents evacuated from the Russian-controlled Ukrainian town of Oleshky landed in Belarus. David Arakhamia, a top Ukrainian peace negotiator, stated that the final plane landed in Gomel.
The residents had left the town during a US-backed local ceasefire, which was described as the first of its kind and the longest humanitarian pause in the war.
