Iranian airstrikes have inflicted significantly greater damage on US military infrastructure in West Asia than publicly acknowledged, with at least 228 structures and equipment hit since the conflict began, according to an analysis by The Washington Post. A US official, cited in the report, described the damage at one naval support base as extensive, with operations subsequently relocated. The scale of the attacks has also affected troop deployment. US commanders reportedly reduced personnel presence at several high-risk bases early in the conflict, moving troops to safer locations. Since the war began on February 28, seven US service members have been killed, six in Kuwait and one in Saudi Arabia, while more than 400 have been injured, according to US officials. Most have returned to duty, though at least 12 sustained serious injuries.
